Cooper Set to Show Off Skills at Great Yorkshire Show
Jonathan Manby, the master cooper at brewer T&R Theakston in Masham, has been busy building a special new stand to show off his joinery skills at the Great Yorkshire Show this month (July 13 to 15).
Theakston, best known for the famous brew Old Peculier, is one of the few brewers in the country that still employs a full-time cooper crafting wooden casks in which its beers mature.

T&R Theakston is sponsoring this year’s Ripley Blues series of concerts in the North Yorkshire village.
Ripley Blues is now a significant part of the UK blues calendar and regularly draws in top names from the world of R’n’B. Headlining acts in this year’s programme includes The Yardbirds; Wilko Johnson; The Blues Band; The Hamsters and Nine Below Zero.

Hunt is on for a Piece of Brewing History
T& R Theakston, the Masham-based brewer, has launched a nationwide hunt
for a piece of its history.
The brewer, which was recently returned to the ownership of the founding family after 20 years under the control of Scottish-Courage, is searching for a vintage 1947 Morris Commercial Van.
The van was used to deliver the brewery’s range of beers to pubs in the North Yorkshire Dales and is fondly remembered by Theakston drinkers.

Theakston's Best Bitter Goes From Strength to Strength
Independent brewer T&R Theakston has celebrated the first anniversary of
taking the 177-year old business back into family ownership by raising the strength of Theakston’s Best Bitter.
The Masham, North Yorkshire based brewery has restored the strength of its draught bitter to 3.8% abv. The move allows the full flavours of this classic session ale to be savoured even more.

Theakston to Expand Masham Brewery
T&R Theakston has announced plans for the development of increased
production capacity at its Masham, North Yorkshire based brewery.
The planned development is timed to coincide with the previously announced move of Theakston Best Bitter production from the Tyne Brewery in Newcastle to the John Smiths brewery in Tadcaster in the spring of 2005.

New Celebration Ale to Toast Family's Buy Back
T&R Theakston, the Masham-based brewer which was recently returned to the ownership of the founding family, has brewed a unique Celebration Ale to mark the event.
Celebration Ale, which is bottle fermented and has an Alcohol By Volume (ABV) of 6 per cent marks the culmination of several months of hard work by the family.
Celebration Ale has been brewed using choicest Pale Malt and traditional Golding English Hops. Because it will continue to condition over the months ahead in the bottle, Celebration Ale will develop a very complex, smooth and unique flavour.

Theakston Sponsors Lower Dales Quoits League
T&R Theakston is helping to support one of the North’s great rural traditions with its sponsorship of the Lower Dales Quoits League.
The league started in 1979 and is played at pubs across the Lower Dales during the warm spring and summer months. This year the league will start on April 28.
A quoit, in ancient times, was synonymous with a discus, and Quoits is believed to have been played at the first Greek Olympiad. Whatever its origin, the game has been played in England for hundreds of year wherein players throw steel rings or quoits into a three foot square pit of clay with a steel pin in the centre. The winner is the person who gets their quoits nearest to the pin.

Famous Brewer Resurrects Part of its History
T&R Theakston is seeking to resurrect an important part of its history with the
restoration of its historic brewery dray.
The brewer, best known as the producer of Old Peculier ale, has brought in Philip Boyes, a local Yorkshire dray and shire horse specialist to advise on the restoration.

The Hardraw Scaur Brass Band Competition, one of the UK’s oldest and most
popular brand band competitions has won the backing of brewer T&R Theakston, best known for Old Peculier ale.
The world famous Hardraw Scaur Brass Band Contest takes place annually at the legendary Green Dragon Inn at Hardraw, Upper Wensleydale at England's highest single drop waterfall.

Theakston's Old Peculier Harrogate Crime Writing Festival
A true and something of a mystery in itself, Theakston's Old Peculier is delighted to announce its sponsorship of the Harrogate Crime Writing Festival.

Theakston Sponsors Masham Steam Rally
T&R Theakston is sponsoring the Masham Steam Engine & Fair Organ Rally which takes place in Masham on the weekend of July 17 and 18 (2004).
The sponsorship deal marks a re-union of sorts for Theakston and the Steam Engine Rally, which celebrates its 39th year in 2004. Theakston has sponsored the event in previous years.
Theakston – best known as the brewer of Old Peculier ale - has been a keen supporter of the rally since it began in 1964 when residents from Masham launched the event to raise funds for the up keep of Masham’s town hall.
